Hi, My name is Frank Pizarro and I'm (cue mystery music) The Fat Runner. After hating running most of my life, I have been moved to not only start doing it, but to set some pretty ambitious goals for myself. Hopefully, with enough training and discipline, I will run a full marathon. 26.2 miles. I have set the Walt Disney World Marathon in 2014 as my goal. (Which as of January 12, 2014 has been accomplished so I guess an edit here is in order)
On the way to to that I hope to learn and experience many things and I thought it would be a good idea to not only keep a record of it all through this blog, but also share it with others. So join me in this journey as I test the limits of my abilities and see if someone like me can become, (cue music again) a Marathoner.
I currently live in the town of Vega Alta in the island of Puerto Rico with my wife and three daughters and I work for the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union, Local 481.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I really like yours, so I suspect you will be hearing more from me. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Frank
ReplyDeleteIt's great to read about other fat runners out there. Although to be honest, looking at your photo, I would not call you a fat runner! Maybe just a little overweight!
Anyway, here's my blog www.runfatbirdrun.com
I'd really appreciate if you could post a link to it somewhere on your site?
I've already got a link to yours on mine.
Thanks a lot

Thanks for posting! That is a really flattering pic of me actually. LOL When I started this journey I was over 100 pounds overweight. While that has gone down a bit I still have a good way to go.
DeleteGreat posts. I'm sure to revisit.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the marathon! That's wonderful inspiration for us fat runners!
ReplyDeleteHi Frank--
ReplyDeleteI'm writing a story on being an overweight runner for Today.com as part of our Marathon coverage. I'd love to speak to you and include your story (and mention your blog)!
Do you have a few minutes to speak Sunday or Monday morning?
Look forward to learning more!

Hey
ReplyDeleteMarina here, from Airia Running (www.airiarunning.com), the Swedish company behind the fastest running shoe - Airia One. It’s not just a marketing claim - rigorous testing shows that 8 out of 10 runners run faster in Airia One running shoes (shaving anywhere from 1% to 7% off their run time).
But this email is not about that.
I want to recruit you personally to run an independent test of Airia One. I’ll bribe you with a free pair. I also respectfully request that you do a write up about your run for your readers.
Please try a long distance race to really feel the difference of running in Airia One. I’m emphasizing the racing part because it’s really important that you actually race in them. We spent decades engineering and designing Airia One to specifically be the best running shoe - and you are a runner and an early adopter. You are the real life chance to test our years of work. I am counting on you to push both yourself and Airia One to the limit.
Please send your address and shoe size to get your free pair of Airia One.
I really hope you take me up on this offer/challenge and have your best run ever.
Kind regards,
Marina

Glad you finished Goofy... I often refer to myself as "an old fat guy with bad knees" usually as I am passing some young buck.... I was out there too running Dopey, and hope to repeat in 2018. See you on the road.

Hello there Frank!
ReplyDeleteOne of our running coaches, Jose Miranda, recently wrote an article titled, "How I Ran 30 Miles Playing Pokemon Go," and we have thought perhaps you might be interested in featuring it on your website and/or sharing it with your fitness community since it can prove beneficial and interesting to those who run as well as play Pokemon Go.
