That, or we are just getting old. I'm hoping for the former. We need a study of some kind to prove it.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05114349109277448312noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970768792371435412.post-79168081290076126342014-05-20T12:46:07.049-04:002014-05-20T12:46:07.049-04:00For me, I would like to persue cycling beyond tri&...For me, I would like to persue cycling beyond tri's. Gran Fondos sound like so much fun to do, along with century rides. A couple years ago we bought super cheap casual bikes and had the same painful experience. I lived on my bike as a kid and never had a sore backside, now I ride a couple miles and I can't walk for 2 days! Keep up the good work! As for the pain in the ass thing, it's like any other muscle as that you have to work slowly. If you ride 10 miles for a couple weeks, you will find the pain in the ass will start lessening (or at least not bother you till towards the end of the ride). So like running, I like to build up slowly, about 5 miles every week. Defiantly use tri shorts for your tri, but look into biking shorts for when you start looking at just riding. More cushion for the bum. As for getting a new bike, I would see if you guys have a local riding group, as they can point you to someone that is trying to sell a second hand bike. Or even try Craigslist or something of that sort for a second hand bike. While clips are awesome, they are not necessary as cages work just fine and you don't have to buy special shoes too. Or even just regular pedals, though you will be working harder in the end. Glad to see that you are getting out there, even on your wife's bike. <br />@heatherlasHeathernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970768792371435412.post-73343805468935867592014-05-19T13:55:07.653-04:002014-05-19T13:55:07.653-04:00This post made me laugh!
