I'm sorry about your knee, it is a very common issue for all sportmen. A very good friend of mine had to give up soccer because of this, but nowadays he can run carefully and he is such a good runner! I always scoffed at any other form of cardio, I thought running was the only "pure" cardio.

While my knee was hurting I was at the gym and found out that using a rowing machine didn't hurt my knee at all. Rowing was a great way to preserve my cardiovascular fitness while also training muscles in my back I had never used before.

If running hurts too much, try biking, eliptical, rowing, etc.. to find some other cardio you can do while you get your knee sorted out. I am back to running now, but still hop on the rowing machine occasionally to keep my back strong.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970768792371435412.post-39432817033197264762017-03-24T08:22:47.382-04:002017-03-24T08:22:47.382-04:00I'm also training for a half marathon with Spo...I'm also training for a half marathon with SportMe runner app, which calculates distance, time, pace and calories.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970768792371435412.post-63615609968845811832017-02-28T07:17:15.269-04:002017-02-28T07:17:15.269-04:00running is a great way to gain and maintain the id...running is a great way to gain and maintain the ideal weight. With all these running events going on this year, from whom I already added some to my list, it seems like half and full marathons are the hype. I'm trying to become a serious runner with SportMe runner app which calculates distance, pace, time and calories and adjusts running plans to my progress. I'm a 50 something fat guy who loves running and a couple years ago the knee just bothered me too much - even wearing the Beasts. Found out I had a torn meniscus, but Ortho doctor assured me it probably wasn't from running - it's usually from twisting a certain way (probably yard work). Had the surgery and 8 weeks later back to running. A year later the same knee is bothering me and found it re-tore slightly (more yard work). A cortisone shot by the doc = 2 years and counting of pain-free. Running never bothered the knees and actually they felt worse if I stop for a period of time. Lesson? Run more and do less yard work. You are smart to be getting the MRI. I'm anxious to see what the issue might be and if it's something that needs more than just rest.
That's the thing with running. We do it to be healthier and in shape but it's like we always have something that's hurt. I've been injured more as a runner than I ever was as a non runner! Crossing fingers that your injury is nothing too serious. Fairytales and Fitnesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11771224209536216240noreply@blogger.com
